Teleca Co-develops Bluetooth Starter Kit with Texas Instruments for TI's Single-Chip Solution

MALMO, Sweden, Feb. 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teleca (Stockholm:TELCb) has worked with Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) to develop a Bluetooth(TM) Starter Kit -- an evaluation and development platform that enables designers to quickly and easily add Bluetooth functionality to a variety of handheld products based on TI's single chip Bluetooth solution.

"Very few suppliers can match Teleca's extensive expertise in Bluetooth electronics and software design," said Ariel Moshkovitz, worldwide marketing manager for TI's Short-Distance Wireless Business Unit. "Teleca's commitment to quickly help us develop a starter kit enables products based on our single chip Bluetooth solution to hit the consumer market faster."

TI's BRF6100 is the Bluetooth industry's first single chip solution to integrate digital RF, resulting in significant reductions to power, total solution size and cost. Consuming a mere 30 milliamps in peak transmit mode, the BRF6100 enables designers to add power efficient Bluetooth functionality in a space of less than 90 square millimeters -- key care-abouts for designers of space-constrained portable devices. The BRF6100 solution is fully certified to the Bluetooth 1.1 protocol and provides complete functionality at temperatures ranging from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.

"Teleca is pleased to work with TI on its Bluetooth starter kit, which is optimized to show the outstanding performance of the BRF6100," said Jorgen Simonsson, marketing director, Teleca Systems. "As a development partner with TI on Bluetooth, and as an independent OMAP(TM) Technology Center, Teleca is delighted to continue our collaboration with TI."
