Philadelphia's Most Anticipated Memorial Day Weekend Celebration -- 18th Annual Jam on the River Returns to The Great Plaza at Penn's Landing


PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The 18th Annual Jam on the River, May 24-26, 2003, returns to its roots, as this year's event will take place at its birthplace, the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing. This Memorial Day weekend event draws thousands to the Philadelphia Waterfront to officially "kick-off" summer. The Great Plaza, located between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street along Columbus Blvd., offers a great waterfront view as a backdrop for this Food and Music Festival.

With marvelous music, fabulous food, creative crafts and interactive fun, this all-inclusive holiday festival will again be packed with entertainment all three days. An Extreme Games section will provide excitement for teens and fun-loving adults. A diverse genre of music will be offered including rock, R&B, soul and blues. Past headliners have included such favorites as: James Brown, Los Lobos, Bela Fleck, Little Feat, and George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Last year's event included a musical performance from Academy Award-winning screenwriter, actor and director Billy Bob Thornton.

With high-caliber talent scheduled to perform throughout the three-day festival, the Jam on the River ticket price is a value at $15 a day (in advance), $20 at the gate. Parking will be provided along Columbus Boulevard with shuttle busses. Public transportation is easily accessible as well.
