Harsco's Railway Track Maintenance Division Makes First Equipment Sale in Germany

Major German Rail Contractor Orders Harsco Switch and Crossing Grinder

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 27, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) said today that its Harsco Track Technologies (HTT) railway track maintenance division has made its first equipment sale in Germany, receiving an order for a 20-stone switch and crossing rail grinder from one of Germany's largest railway track construction companies, Eichholz GmbH. Terms were not disclosed.

The order further extends HTT's growing presence in Europe, the UK, China and other international markets as one of the world's leading providers of equipment and services for the maintenance, repair, and new construction of railway track. HTT's switch and crossing grinders reprofile rail surfaces to maintain the correct wheel-to-rail contact interface and to remove surface defects such as corrugation that can lead to rail failure. Each grinding head, or "stone," can be individually controlled for precise grinding patterns and results.

Financing was arranged through FCM Rail, Ltd., the largest lessor of railway maintenance of way equipment in North America, which will lease the unit to Eichholz. Delivery is scheduled for later this year.
