Entrepreneurs Prepare to Take Center Stage at 2003 Ben Franklin Emerging Business Award


PHILADELPHIA, March 6, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- MEDIA ADVISORY -- Entrepreneurs will take center stage tonight in Philadelphia for The 9th Annual Ben Franklin Emerging Business Awards. The Ballroom at the Ben is the scene for this increasingly popular event that recognizes entrepreneurs for their outstanding efforts and achievements.

The Entrepreneurs' Forum of Greater Philadelphia and Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern PA have presented the awards since 1984 to highlight and promote area companies in recognition of breakthrough technologies, product innovations and management excellence as well as excellence in biotechnology and entrepreneurial support. Each winning company will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

Competing in the Most Innovative Product category are e-Duction, Inc., which has created a dynamic payroll exchange technology; Easy Walking is commercializing up n' go, a patent pending, durable medical product; and Virtual Cycles, which develops 3-d visualization tools for customizing high-end motorcycles.

In the running for the Most Innovative Service Award are KnowledgeFlow, which connects Internet consumers to pools of retail business offers; Philadelphia Films, which produces a wide range of educational content; and Supply Marketing, a company that creates and maintains brand awareness in physicians' offices by providing free disposable products with printed branded content.

Vying for the coveted Best Management Team prize are BioRexis Pharmaceutical Corp., which develops and produces novel biopharmaceuticals related to protein fusion technology; Faithful Companion offers pet owners indemnity style health insurance to reimburse them for veterinary health care expenses; and Mobile Application Technologies, a fully integrated developer and provider of enterprise level mobile application products.

Finalists for the Biotech Company of the Year Award are BioRexis Pharmaceutical Corp., an enterprise that develops and produces novel biopharmaceuticals related to protein fusion technology; Nucleonics Inc., a company focused on the exploitation of interfering ribonucleic acid, RNAi, technology; and Polymedix, which performs drug design using revolutionary computational technologies.

The nominees for the esteemed Iris Newman Award are Kari Altman, Marjorie Brody, Elizabeth Browning, Ellen Fisher, Lori Reiner, Pamela Rich-Wheeler, Ivy Silver, Geri Swift, and Christine Warren.
