Shattering the Peace -- North and South Korea Are on the Brink of War Due to Terrorism in New Novel

SOUTH RIDING, Va., March 12, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The world turns its eyes on the Korean Peninsula imploring North Korea to reseal its nuclear reactors. In Seoul, North and South Korean leaders sit down for peaceful negotiations hoping to put an end to the month long defiant stance of North Korea. "Shatters the Morning Calm" (now available through 1stBooks Library) by Robert Breckenridge mirrors the murky political climate on the Korean Peninsula.

In South Korea, negotiations are set to begin for business and hopefully peace between North and South Korea. However, a hard-line faction in North Korea plans to disrupt the negotiations by staging an assassination attempt inside South Korea. The attempt will destroy the talks with mistrust in an already unstable political climate. The story follows an American businessman through South Korea, South Korean and Israeli intelligence agents, a North Korean government minister and an American CIA agent as they plot and maneuver toward a cataclysmic climax that could trigger war.

Soaking in the political climate of the 21st century, the story unfolds in an explosion of terrorism, mistrust, instability and suspense. Taking place from North and South Korea to Japan and Hong Kong to Paris and Tel Aviv, "Shatters the Morning Calm" is like tomorrow's dreadful headlines realized.

Breckenridge used his many years of experience to speckle his novel with realism. Educated at West Point, he received a master's degree from George Washington University. He served 26 years as an U.S. Army officer and an additional 13 years as an international business consultant forging joint venture agreements between American and Korean corporations. Breckenridge also served in the National Security Council system followed by four years of service in Korea working with the Korean military and government. He currently resides in Loudoun County, Va.
