Humanity's Pursuit of Peace -- An introduction to seven sources to sustain and achieve peace

CUTTACK, India, March 13, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Despite humanities never-ending dips into the knowledge pool, there are still certain unattainable goals man has yet to conquer. Peace is one of these. Peace Technology, authored by Fani Bhusan Das, delves into the intricate details of peace and its elusive qualities.

In his first book, Das explores the need for peace, present trends towards peace and man's exhaustive efforts to attain it throughout history. Das explains that the search has always been thwarted by the means and humanity has settled for a virtual peace rather than the real deal.

Das cites the "need of the day" as a reorientation of humanity's thought process for modernization of new technological and philosophical ideas, which would contribute to the peace process. This peace can be perceived as a technology of natural philosophy, thus the title Peace Technology. In addition to a wide-ranging explanation, Das incorporates and introduces seven sources of peace, which he hopes will remove the obstacles now impeding proper growth of the peace process. The book also includes a discussion of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack and "America's new war." He calls the war against terrorism the "world's new war in search of peace".

Das was born in eastern India in the 1930s and currently lives in Cuttack, India. He grew up during World War II, which inspired his interest in peace. He is presently Professor Emeritus and Head of the Innovation Center in the Ajay Binay Institute of Technology at the Piloo Mody College of Architecture in Cuttack, India.

In addition to Peace Technology, Das has four international publications to his credit.
