Virage Delivers Intel Solutions Blueprint for Enterprise Webcasting

Blueprint Details Enterprise-Scale Webcast Deployments Based on Intel Architecture

SAN MATEO, Calif., March 18, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Virage, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRGE) today announced that it has developed a Solutions Blueprint for large-scale enterprise webcasting based on Intel(r) Architecture. Virage's VS Webcasting(tm) software, deployed at more than a dozen corporations and universities worldwide, is tuned and optimised for the Intel(r) Xeon(tm) processor. Virage is a leading provider of video and rich media communication software.

Intel's Solutions Blueprints are proven combinations of enterprise hardware and software for a specific business need -- from processor and operating system to application and integration. Before a Blueprint is crafted, it is tested and tuned at the solution provider's facilities, customer site or in one of the worldwide Intel e-Business labs co-located at OEM and solution integrator facilities.

The Webcasting Solutions Blueprint will be available for free in early April, when Virage introduces its next-generation software platform. Virage has crafted the blueprint with the goal of reducing the complexity and time involved in implementing enterprise class webcasting solutions.

"Webcasting increases not only the frequency, but also the quality of information sharing across an enterprise infrastructure," said David L. Brown, general manager of Intel's Software Enabling Division. "The combination of the Virage and Intel architecture provides a solution for delivering a scalable software solution designed to meet the demanding needs of the global enterprise infrastructure."

"Virage has crafted a solution to fit the needs of the world's largest companies," said Dave Girouard, senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Virage. "Corporate webcasts often need to reach thousands of viewers simultaneously. We've created a blueprint for delivering high-quality webcasts that are scalable and reliable."
