Into The Light And Out Of The Dark - New novel delves deep into the life of an abused woman

KAILUA, Hawaii, April 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Samantha (Sam) Maclair is determined and hardworking. She has goals and is willing to work for them. However, she meets her "perfect match" and the abuse begins. Manipulative and vicious, this abuse leaves no bruises. In her newly released book, Out Of The Dark, Skeeter Dole Dorywalski exposes the emotional abuse Sam survives, as well as the physical abuse Sam's friend, Greta Fairday, experiences.

The story begins when Sam accepts a temporary position in Hawaii, leaving behind her family, including a distraught brother, on the mainland. Although Sam's goal is to own an electrical contracting business, an economic recession has forced her to put her dreams on hold. After befriending Greta, each woman finds herself in a life-threatening abusive relationship. As Sam's professional dreams begin to come true, her personal life plummets. Her lover, Dick, begins to force his way into her business as a co-owner. Once he has learned the business thoroughly, he becomes controlling, verbally and emotionally abusive. Inexplicable "accidents" begin to transpire, yet Sam still denies that Dick is abusive.

Tormented and dispirited, Sam contemplates suicide until she learns a hard lesson about the fragility of life. Her brother's suicide forces her to take a hard look at herself and her relationships. After finding another woman in her bed, she finally sees Dick for the abuser he is. She starts over financially and emotionally. It becomes her quest to find out why she becomes involved with men who are controlling and incapable of committing to a permanent relationship.

Dorywalski is a current resident of Kailua, Hawaii, where she lives with her husband and two Rottweilers. She labels her profession as entrepreneur. However, she has been a "journeyman electrician," an electrical contractor, a bookkeeper, city bus driver, waitress, writer, mother, wife, grandmother, survivor and friend.
