Trelleborg to Acquire German Industrial Profiles Company

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 07, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Through its Building Systems business area, Trelleborg (Other OTC:TBABF) has entered into an agreement to acquire the operations of the German company ETU GmbH, which specializes in technically advanced industrial profiles.

"ETU is a relatively newly established company, with strong technical product development capacity," said Peter Suter, President of Trelleborg Building Systems. "The acquisition will strengthen our development capacity within sealing profiles. In addition to the building sector, ETU is also active in industrial markets and thus complements us well."

ETU supplies industrial profiles to the building industry and other sectors primarily in Central Europe. The company, which has annual sales of approximately SEK 50 M and 18 employees, conducts its operations through a single unit in Grossheubach in Germany.

The acquisition will take the form of an asset-transfer transaction and it is estimated that the company's operations will be taken over during April 2003.

Trelleborg Building Systems develops and markets polymer- and bitumen- based building products for sealing and damping applications within industrial and consumer markets. The business area is the market leader in the European sealing profiles market. In 2002, Trelleborg Building Systems had sales of SEK 1,880 M, with approximately 1,200 employees. Production units are located in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany and the United Kingdom.
