Pointsec Mobile Technologies Signs Agreement with American KeyBank

5,000 laptops gain protection via Pointsec for PC

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 08, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Pointsec Mobile Technologies, a subsidiary of IT security company Protect Data (Other OTC:PRTDF) and a global leader in enterprise security software for laptops, desktops, and PDAs, today announced it has signed a major software license agreement with KeyBank, one of USA's largest bank-based financial services companies. As a result of the deal, five thousand KeyBank mobile workers will soon have their notebook PCs protected by Pointsec(R) for PC, Pointsec's industry-leading data security solution.

Pointsec(R) for PC provides Virtual Physical Security (VPS) that protects mobile PCs regardless of their actual physical location. The software provides scalable, centralized administration of disk encryption as well as flexible yet mandatory user access control.

Pointsec is pleased to provide the highest level of mobile security possible for KeyBank. With both mobility and data security becoming more critical components of business than ever before, companies in every industry are looking for a reliable way to protect their distributed data. Pointsec for PC will give KeyBank and its field personnel the security they require, said Peter Larsson, president of Pointsec Mobile Technologies.

Pointsec for PC's two major components -- boot-level user authentication and automatic whole disk encryption -- adequately and completely secure data residing on any kind of mobile personal computer. The product's Enforceable Mandatory Access Control can be used with fixed passwords, dynamic tokens, and smart cards, while the disk encryption feature secures each sector on the device's hard disk, ensuring that data will remain impenetrable even if the hard drive is removed from the PC.

KeyBank's use of Pointsec for PC will extend to mobile workers across the company, primarily in KeyBank's Banking and Investments group. Executive, sales, and account service personnel will receive the security product, with deployment already underway. The rollout is expected to be complete by the end of 2003. As part of the license agreement, Pointsec will also provide professional services including training and user support.

KeyCorp is one of the nation's largest bank-based financial services companies, with assets of approximately $85 billion. Key companies provide investment management, retail and commercial banking, retirement, consumer finance, and investment banking products and services to individuals and companies throughout the United States and, for certain businesses, internationally.

Pointsec Mobile Technologies has been developing advanced IT security solutions for 15 years. The company has earned important security certifications, such as FIPS 140, considered the de facto IT security standard. In December 2002, for the second year in a row, Pointsec was placed in the "Leader" quadrant in a major mobile data protection product study released by the industry research firm Gartner, Inc.
