SKF Gained Major Order for Condition Monitoring System for Wind Parks

GOTEBORG, Sweden, April 9, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- SKF (Nasdaq:SKFR) has gained a major order for SKF WindCon condition monitoring systems. The German company ENERTRAG Energiedienst GmbH has ordered SKF WindCon for 126 wind turbines to be located in nine different wind parks, eight in Germany and one with 12 wind turbines in Southern France. The order is to be fully executed by the end of 2004.

Using SKF WindCon ENERTRAG will continuously have a complete picture of the condition of its wind turbines. This enables incipient problems to be detected at an early stage and preventive maintenance to be scheduled on time preventing unplanned costly downtime.

SKF will also train the ENERTRAG service staff in system handling and machine diagnostics for wind turbines. For a period of six months, SKF will provide remote diagnostics for the first wind park of 30 wind turbines.
