Uncovering the History of Jesus' Life - New book unveils more than 30 years of research about Jesus' life in the Roman Empire

GAINESVILLE, Ga., April 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The biblical life of Jesus is trusted by millions. But until now, little has been uncovered about Jesus living and ministering in the Roman Empire and being a loyal Roman subject, as well as a loyal Jew. Dr. Ron Charles' book, The Search (now available through 1stBooks Library,) documents more than 30 years of hands-on research this scholar has completed into the historical life of one of the most influential figures ever.

The Search, using historical documentation and research, outlines Jesus' life and explains why he taught and lived the way he did, in light of the influence of the Roman Empire. Jesus most likely was influenced by the Roman Empire through schooling and government, ultimately dying under Roman law. This book squarely situates Jesus' life within the Roman political arena.

Charles aligns the traditional assumptions about the life of Jesus with the historical facts relative to the time Jesus' lived. The Search does not attempt to lessen Jesus' status as a deity, nor does it push the author's own religious beliefs on the reader. It brings together historical fact gathered by visiting more than 50 countries and undertaking five major archeological investigations in five countries in his pursuit of authenticating information about Jesus' life.

Charles has an extensive background in history and archaeology. He has earned bachelor's degrees in civil engineering and theology, working as both a structural engineer and senior pastor. Other academic credits include master's degrees in ancient history and historical theology and doctoral degrees in ancient history, international relations and historical theology. He lives in Gainesville, Ga., with his wife Paula of 32 years, working as a writer for Crown Financial Ministries.
