UTi Worldwide Receives C-TPAT Certification from U.S. Customs Services


RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, Calif., April 24, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- UTi Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq:UTIW) today announced its approved status as a certified member of C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) under the categories of Air Freight Consolidators, Ocean Transportation Intermediaries, Non-Vessel Operating Carriers and Customs Broker As a certified member, UTi qualifies for C-TPAT benefits, including swifter processing of the company's shipments at ports of entry.

C-TPAT is an initiative between the government and the business community to protect global commerce from terrorism. While participation in the program is voluntary, businesses involved in trade are urged to submit a Supply Chain Security Profile with U.S. Customs that includes the company's established supply chain security policies. Once a profile is completed and Customs validates that security measurements contained in the profile are in effect, the business is officially certified and imports by the business may then qualify for expedited release of cargo and/or a reduced number of examinations.
