More Than What She Wished - Author offers delightful, new children's book

MESA, Ariz., April 30, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- One of the most exciting days in a child's life is their birthday, especially when they turn five. They can finally hold up all the fingers on their small, pudgy hand when asked their age. For Molly, her fifth birthday brings more than the usual celebration excitement. It brings a new friend and a rewarding, learning experience that is, simply, out of this world. Follow Molly's adventure in Geri Ahearn's newly released book, The Nurse in the Purse: Volume 1 (now available through 1stBooks Library).

All Molly really wants for her birthday is a purse. As an extra surprise, Molly finds a nurse doll within the handbag. To the child's surprise, the doll comes to life and becomes a great friend and teacher to Molly. Maria, the doll, teaches the child first aid, safety and the ability to help others.

In the likeness of Dr. Seuss' magical works, the author presents a delightful tale, employing charming lyrical passages, such as: "Good morning Molly," said Mama./ Happy birthday to you!/ It's time to rise and shine; there's much to do./ So hurry, get washed and dressed-I will wear pink too."

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the author currently resides in Mesa, Ariz. Most of her life has been devoted to her nursing career. She has worked in hospitals, nursing homes, adult homes, clinics and schools. She also taught CPR and first aid classes in fire departments, schools and other locations within her community. In addition to writing, Ahearn enjoys gardening and spending time with Mother Nature.

She has published several poems in magazines, such as Angel News Magazine and Ya'sou Magazine and released a poetic collection of childhood impressions, entitled When I was a Child, in January 2003. Additional works by Ahearn include, Inspirations and World to Live By and Life's Poetic Journey, both published in 2001.
