NextMED Establishes Partnership with the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland/Northern Ohio Medical Association; Will Provide Billing Services and Practice Management Software

CLEVELAND, May 1, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- NextMED Systems, a provider of medical practice management software and claims-management services, and the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland/Northern Ohio Medical Association (AMC/NOMA) today announced that they have entered into a partnership agreement.

Under this agreement, the Academy will offer its physician members the opportunity to purchase NextMED's practice management tools at a discounted price.

The NextMED service is designed to improve collections and save money and time for physician practices. By providing accurate and appropriate data to third-party payers, NextMED greatly reduces rejected and disputed claims, thus simplifying billing procedures.

"In today's environment, where physicians are faced with increasing costs and reductions in reimbursement for services, this type of program, which simplifies practice management procedures and makes office management more efficient, should be welcomed by our members," said Elayne Biddlestone, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of AMC/NOMA. "That's the goal of this partnership agreement."

NextMED's proprietary tools, which enhance revenue collection and streamline operations, have been shown to improve practice cash flow, resulting in near-term bottom line improvement of 6% to 8%.

"Most practices have much to gain from using NextMED," says David Shute, President and CEO of NextMED. "Clients benefit from our sizable investment in sophisticated tools that enhance collections and help level the playing field between the physicians and the payors."

Included in the NextMED program for AMC/NOMA members are:

 -- Practice Management Software -- NextMED offers several
    market-recognized, quality brands;

 -- Coding Advisor(tm), which provides current and accurate coding and
    compliance information, reducing denied claims and cutting the
    time for claims reimbursement by as much as 50 percent;

 -- Business Performance Specialists, who regularly meet with the
    practice, monitor key indicators, and share insights on issues,
    local payors, process improvement needs, etc.
