An Authoritative Guide for Technicians and Engineers -- New book gives advice for work attitude, improved skills

LONDON, May 5, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- In his new book, Frank Sikapa draws on his extensive experience as a dialysis technician to develop a guide for technicians, engineers and managers to improve skills and identity and remedy problems.

In Instructional Technique to Develop Technical Skills, Awareness & Attitude: In Engineers and Technicians of the Third World (now available through 1stBooks Library), Sikapa focuses on specialists in developing countries.

This book is meant to improve diagnostic skills, recognize the need for awareness and develop a positive attitude toward work and people. It is one of the few books that successfully incorporates management skills with technical knowledge.

This guide is a valuable resource for any training workshop. Anyone involved with a technical field will find this book helpful in improving the relationships between technicians and engineers. Sikapa touches on learning skills, mental approach, management, training and the maintenance of the organization.

Sikapa offers a straightforward writing style and fresh perspectives on ideas other books often miss, such as the definition of "positive action" in the workplace.

He also writes about how to better decode symptoms and figure out how to tackle faults in a systematic and orderly manner. Diagrams and flow charts help the reader easily comprehend the concepts they can apply to do their job more effectively. Instructional Technique to Develop Technical Skills, Awareness & Attitude is an A to Z technical and management resources guide.

Sikapa is a retired chief technician of the Department of Renal Medicine and Transplantation at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London. He was the first black person of African origin to work in dialysis in Great Britain and helped found the dialysis complex at St. Leonard's Hospital in London. He lectured in post-graduate studies at London University and has collaborated with the World Health Organization to provide training, scientific support, research and development in health care equipment. This is his second book, which follows Clinical Technologist Companion (Renal Dialysis) (also available through 1stBooks Library).
