SDI's Supply Chain Solutions and Technology Expected to Increase Productivity and Reduce Total Costs for the NYCDOE

BENSALEM, Pa., May 5, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- SDI (Strategic Distribution, Inc.) (Nasdaq:STRD) has announced that The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) has selected the company to provide integrated supply chain services for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) materials at the main NYCDOE warehouse facility. The parties are currently negotiating the final details of the agreement.

SDI will serve as a single integrated supplier to provide warehouse and supply chain management services as well as all required materials for the maintenance of the more than 1,200 schools in the New York City public school system. The agreement, once finalized, will enable the NYCDOE to obtain significant savings through SDI's comprehensive supply chain management solution, which provides standardization, consolidated sourcing, reduced transaction costs, and inventory management. These services are designed to decrease inventory levels and increase parts availability.

According to Robert DePaolo, vice president, sales and marketing for SDI, "Integrated supply has been used by business and industry for more than 30 years. As progressive, not for profit institutions look to become more cost effective, they are turning to companies like SDI to bring improvements to their supply chain. SDI's integrated supply solutions and leading edge supply chain technology are proving successful in helping educational markets increase productivity and reduce total costs."

SDI helps customers optimize their business performance and meet strategic goals by providing technology and supply chain solutions to increase productivity and reduce total costs. Commercial and industrial customers, as well as educational institutions, benefit from reduced costs and inefficiencies in the procurement and management of maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) materials.
