Raytheon's Electronic Systems Division Standardizes on Telelogic Synergy

Automation and Tracking Leveraged to Reach Higher Maturity Level Rating

MALMO, Sweden, May 6, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic (Other OTC:TGIAF) (Stockholm:TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development, today announced that Raytheon Company's Network Centric Systems division has standardized on Telelogic Synergy and will use the industry-leading change and configuration management tool to achieve a higher software maturity level rating.

Network Centric Systems uses nearly 1,000 Synergy licenses in its facilities, where it develops advanced weapons sightings and targeting systems as well as cutting edge surveillance, reconnaissance and navigation systems under military and commercial contracts. Its sophisticated radars and optical systems are deployed in numerous government assets.

"There is a lot riding on the systems we build. Accuracy and reliability are non-negotiable," said Steve Allo, Engineering Manager and head of the Software Engineering Process Group. "When we release a product, we need confidence in the build. Telelogic Synergy provides that confidence."

Synergy's task-based change management process allows development tasks to be grouped logically and assigned to releases. Task-based check-ins eliminate the need to track individual files and prevents future build problems. Source code changes are linked to specific tasks, providing complete traceability. By checking on the status of task assignments associated with a particular release, managers can receive a clear view of development progress. And with its powerful distributed change management capabilities, collaboration -- across Network Centric Systems integrated facilities or even the world -- is simple and worry-free.

"We standardized on Telelogic Synergy because it removes many of the headaches inherent in advanced development. Building a product is an evolutionary process that requires a lot of collaboration, coordination and careful tracking," Allo said. "Synergy automates much of this process, leaving engineers free to concentrate on product development, rather than trying to figure out what they're supposed to do and what everyone else is doing."

Electronic Systems has received recognition from the Software Engineering Institute for its development process. Already awarded a Level 4 CMM (Capability Maturity Model) rating, the group will concentrate on Defect Prevention, Technology Change Management, and Process Change Management to reach the next level -- SEI's highest.

"With Synergy in place to support our development process, we can achieve a Level 5 rating," Allo said. "Synergy automates the change review and approval process, and simplifies routing and tracking change requests."

"Everyone recognizes that software and systems development requires a lot of talent and intellectual creativity," said Scott Raskin, President of Telelogic Americas and Asia/Pacific. "Raytheon clearly possesses both in abundance.

"But successful development projects also require a lot of discipline, organization and honesty. Telelogic Synergy addresses these needs by supporting sound and logical development processes, creating a system of organization based on tasks, and providing a tangible way to track progress on assignments.

"With Raytheon's talent and intellect, and Telelogic tools, the Network Centric Systems group should have no difficulty reaching its Level 5 goal," Raskin said.
