coaXmedia Names Don Davis Vice-President of Engineering


CUMMING, Ga., May 12, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- coaXmedia announced today the appointment of Don Davis as the company's Vice-President of Engineering. Davis assumed the position May 1, 2003.

"Don is filling a critical role that has emerged at coaXmedia. We are in the midst of developing and introducing multiple extensions to our existing product line. Our product release cycles are accelerating, product costs must be scrutinized and challenged on a daily basis and our customers are demanding new and better features," said Dan Seitam, founder and chief executive officer of coaXmedia. "This environment requires sophisticated management and Don possesses the combination of engineering expertise, technical vision and program management skills that are required to successfully manage this complex product development environment.

Prior to joining coaXmedia, Davis served as Vice President and General Manager, System Division for Bandwidth9. Davis has also served as the vice president of engineering at ANTEC Network Systems, where he managed the company's RF and Optical CATV Products development groups and VeriFiber Technologies, where he was the Vice President of Engineering.

Davis spent 16 years at AT&T Bell Labs (AT&T/Lucent), where he most recently served as technical manager and business manager of Lucent's Fiber Optic Instruments. He holds a B.S.E.E. from North Carolina State, M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Georgia Tech where he worked as an adjunct professor of electrical engineering. He holds several patents awarded and pending, and he has multiple publications in the area of optics and electro-optical components and systems.
