How One Man Turned Likely Failures into Profitable Ventures -- New Memoir Tells One Man's Story of Positive Attitude, Success in Business

OREGON CITY, Ore., May 15, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Norman Kneisel lived his life with a positive outlook, and it paid off. In his new book, From the Indian Kickapoo Reservation to the Bright City Lights (now available through 1stBooks Library), Kneisel tells 77 years worth of adventurous, unbelievable stories, giving the reader insight on how to turn likely failures into successful, money making ventures.

He describes many humorous and eye opening stories, including:

The 4th of July Kneisel made $5,000 by converting a hotel entrance leading to the basement into a very successful four stool sidewalk cafe.

The skirmish he had with 40 headhunters in the highlands of New Guinea.

The emergency landing he made when he ran out of oil in a Beach Bonanza on the East side of Mt. St. Helens.

The drive across the Nebraska plains at 1 a.m. with two feet of snow on the ground and the temperature at four below zero. The neighbors flipped on the lights as he drove by honking the musical horns of his new 1946 Hudson.

The Sunday morning phone call that ended with a newly purchased hotel in Alaska.

Kneisel is a man who went from bring flat broke in a new city to someone who turned a borrowed $75 into $10,000 within four days. He is a man who was told he would never walk again after a bout with polio when he was 18 years old.

This book will teach readers how to be successful in the business world, travel first class all over the world and "have more fun than anyone ever should be allowed to have," the author writes.

Kneisel was born in 1922 on the Kickapoo Indian Reservation near a little town called Mercier, Kan. He was prompted by friends to write his book, and credits much of his drive to a simple poem that crossed his desk about 60 years ago titled, "Don't Quit."
