Snippets of an Extraordinary Life -- New Collection of Stories Opens the Door to Author's Adventurous Experiences

HEWLETT HARBOR, N.Y., May 28, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Jacques Cousteau once said, "When one man, for whatever reason, has the opportunity to lead an extraordinary life, he has no right to keep it to himself." Edward S. Orzac is one of those men and he doesn't keep it to himself. In his new collection of short stories, entitled The Fall of the House of Ill Repute and Other Short Stories (now available through 1stBooks), Orzac shares his life of adventure and excitement.

Ed Orzac takes the reader around the world and back as he recounts his life through a series of stories. Most of the stories are based on Orzac's experiences and, in many instances, only the names and places were changed. Other stories are partially true with a different resolution and works of pure imagination.

"There is a large element of travel, a modicum of philosophy and the human comedy," Orzac says.

These exotic tales recount Orzac's expeditions as a "do gooder physician." He has experienced sweeping changes over the past century and shares these observations with the world for the first time. From World War II to the torrid terrain of Afghanistan, the sultry jungles of Vietnam and Indonesia to the plights of boarding school, Orzac tells stories about legally running a house of prostitution for the U.S. Army and his quest for an antiquity from Kabul to Peshawar through the Khyber Pass.

From childhood to the Khyber Pass, Orzac shares his extraordinary life in this amazing collection of adventurous and entertaining stories.

Orzac is a physician who has traveled around the world. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Serving two years overseas in a combat infantry division and later as head of a medical general dispensary, he has since held a myriad of appointments and positions from teaching at NYU and St. John's University to director of otolaryngology and medical director of Franklin Hospital Medical Center. Published in numerous medical journals, Orzac rounds out his amazing successful life with the publication of The Fall of the House of Ill Repute, his first book of short stories.
