eMachines Announces One-Millionth User of BigFix Proactive Technical Support Program; Consumer Client Application Automatically Monitors, Detects and Solves Potential PC-Related Problems

IRVINE, Calif., June 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- eMachines, Inc., recently named the fastest-growing PC company in the United States by IDC, today announced that one million eMachines PC buyers have implemented the BigFix(r) Consumer Client application, a proactive technical support program that monitors, detects and solves potential PC problems with a single click.

eMachines began integrating BigFix's innovative technology throughout its entire PC line-up in April 2002. BigFix's patented technology is capable of scanning and detecting needed maintenance that prevents system problems before they occur.

The solution is available in the form of a "Fixlet" message offering characteristics and descriptions of potential problems while offering helpful remedies with a mouse click. "Fixlet" messages, for example, protect users from security vulnerabilities by providing security patches against new viruses and worms, solve application conflicts, and update driver settings to better facilitate PC ease-of-use.

"BigFix allows our customers to maintain the performance of their PCs by delivering automatic technical support that solves potential system conflicts before they impair performance," said Mike Zimmerman, senior vice president of Customer Care and Quality Assurance at Irvine, Calif.-based eMachines. "Our relationship with BigFix reflects our team's efforts to provide our customers with the premier support program in the PC industry."

"BigFix is pleased to provide eMachines' users with our proactive technical support program to operate their PCs more efficiently, while maintaining optimum performance," said Steve Larson, CEO of Emeryville, Calif.-based BigFix. "As a result of the 'Fixlet' messages within our software, BigFix is able to offer critical security updates, virus alerts and service packages to equip users with an instant means to correct any potential PC-related problems."
