Evil Within the Circle of the Rose -- New Novel Tells Chilling Tale of Underground Cult and Ritualistic Acts Inflicted on Children

EDGEWOOD, Texas, June 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Evil lurks in the darkness of the east Texas pine forests. Deep within a cave, a sadistic cult leader thrives in ceremonies of drugs, sex and human sacrifice. In an orphanage, a young boy holds the key to the undoing of the cult in the chilling new novel, Circle of the Rose (now available through 1stBooks), by Carroll Edwards.

Edwards tells a disturbing tale of child abuse and evil. A young boy, Tommy, has suffered severe physical, sexual and emotional abuse at the hands of a twisted underground cult. Known as the Circle of the Rose, the group, led by Morgan, thrives with mass orgies and the power to extract from brutally sacrificing and raping children. Tommy was to be sacrificed, but something special and powerful glowed from within him. He was rescued and left to another orphanage. Mute and fragile, the boy had finally begun to think he could put the inflicted evil behind him. Reunited with his Aunt Sarah, a woman living in quiet solitude from her own traumatic childhood, he finally feels life may get back to normal.

However, Morgan wanted Tommy back. Filled with vile rage, Morgan desired the gifts that Tommy possessed. Neither Tommy nor Sarah suspected the lengths the cult would go to retrieve the boy. For Tommy, the true hell was just beginning.

"This book deals explicitly with the impact of sexual, physical and emotional abuse upon children. It also attacks the frailties of society to protect these small individuals from such harms," Edwards says.

Edwards lives in Edgewood, Texas, along with his wife and children. He currently attends college at the University of Texas in Tyler, working on a major in nursing and a minor in English. He plans to continue writing as a means of support for medical missionary work in west Texas and rural parts of Mexico. Circle of the Rose is his first book.
