Lindsay R. Bottomer, President and CEO of Southern Rio Resources, Discusses His Company's Current Projects, Board of Directors, and Future Plans For Cultivating Precious Metals In Keynote Interview

NEW YORK, June 6, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Focused on the exploration for silver and gold in the central region of British Columbia, Southern Rio Resources' (TSX Venture Exchange:SNZ) 3Ts Gold and Silver project has yielded some results that Bottomer said he is "very pleased with."

"We've generated enough data on the property to see that we're in the right sort of system," he said, referring to the epithermal system that is found along the Pacific Rim of Fire and South America's western coast. "This type of system generates the most profitable precious metal mines in the world," he said.

Enhancing their geographic diversity is essential to the company's success, Bottomer said. They have expanded efforts in Southern British Columbia, where Bottomer believes they can explore and drill for copper. Although the project is still in its infant stages, Bottomer said that it could lead to an increase in future revenues. In addition to British Columbia, Southern Rio Resources has begun gold exploration efforts in Northwest Ontario, where first stage drilling efforts have yielded "some pretty good results," he said.

In addition to Bottomer, Southern Rio Resources' board of directors includes Randy Turner and John McDonald, who have a combined 70 years in mineral exploration and research. The two were key players in the Windspear diamond exploration several years ago, which yielded impressive results. The company often seeks outside counsel from Simon Ridgway, President and Director of Radius Explorations Ltd. Ridgway, who has 18 years of exploration experience, is very familiar with epithermal deposits and is "a good source of reference," for Southern Rio Resources' current projects, Bottomer said.
