The 2003 Irish Festival Returns to the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing, Part of the PECO Energy Multicultural Series Presents


PHILADELPHIA, Pa., June 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Irish culture will be celebrated during PECO Energy's Multicultural Series, returning to the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing, Columbus Boulevard and Chestnut Street. The Irish Festival takes place Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22, 2003 from 1 to 9 p.m.

The fifth annual Irish Festival is a family event that features two days of well-known Irish musical performers. Guests can enjoy the music of the Bogside Rogues, Irish Lads of Comedy and the Tommy Moffit Band. The Barley Boys, The Hooligans and The Whole Shabang will also take the stage during the festival.

In addition to great musical performances, the Irish Festival has something for people of all ages. There will be bagpipers and face painters, delicious Irish food, talented Irish dancers and Irish vendors. Dance exhibitions will be presented by local dance schools.

The three-masted replica of one of Ireland's most famed famine ships -- The Jeanie Johnston -- will be docked at Penn's Landing and open for tours during the festival. Ticket Prices are $7 for adults; $5 for seniors, children under 12 and students; $20 family packages will also be available. Free tours to the public will be available at 10:00 -11:00 am and 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. every day.
