CALGARY, Alberta, June 16, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Carmina Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:CARL) expects to have its first SARS automated questionnaire and database up and running at the University of Guelph Student Health Department by June 20, 2003. The University of Guelph enrolls more than 16,000 students. The University's Student Health Services, like other medical clinics and hospitals in Ontario, is screening students before they enter the health center. Students are asked to complete forms and describe any medical symptoms. By utilizing Carmina's automated ASSUR H&S (Health and Safety) protocol, the University hopes to have at its disposal an efficient system providing a database available in real time for analysis should a suspected case of SARS surface.
The SARS protocol is the second ASSUR H&S application, following on the heels of a system adopted by Health Units in Ontario to monitor larvae infestations of the mosquitos that can carry West Nile Virus.
