The Transparent Blindfold of Justice -- New Book Reveals Judicial Corruption as Wealthy Attacker Gets Away with Disabling Author

COFFEYVILLE, Kan., June 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Justice is said to be blind. Her statue wears a blindfold, but does she react if money is piled on her scale? In the opinion of Jim Howard, the tipping scale does cause a reaction. In his new book, The Kook and His Lawyer (now available through 1stBoooks), Howard presents evidence that he hopes proves he never had his fair day in court.

Howard provides court documents as well as critical detailed police data and witness testimonies in his book. His true story is about being a victim and then getting railroaded because his assailant was wealthy. He describes in detail, how on June 30, 1987, he visited the home of a lady friend and was immediately attacked by a scorned lover who had been stalking her. Howard was badly beaten in the attack, forever disabling his right arm, rendering him unable to continue working his then current job as a maintenance man, or any other job.

He hopes to show that when he and his attacker had their day in court, his attacker and his deep pockets won over lady justice. Howard, with documents, shows how four lawyers, including his own, fixed the trial. Howard received little compensation, barely enough for any medical bills. He now is destitute, living on disability and unable to receive the treatment for his disabled arm, he says.

It is a story of greed, wealth and injustice that emanates from the very place that is supposed to provide Americans with justice. The Kook and His Lawyer is about victim's rights and judicial corruption that may remove the blindfold from Americans who are not aware of these problems.

Howard pastored churches before his wife divorced him for a richer man, he says. Afterwards, he worked in industrial maintenance and played guitar music on weekends in steakhouses. His first book, The Twenty First Century Caveman Saga (available through 1stBooks) was published in early 2001.
