A Flood of Poems for the Soul -- Poet Offers Comfort and Hope for the Hours of Despair

BOCA RATON, Fla., June 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Tragedy strikes like a bolt of lightning; thunder resounds through a person's world. Clouds rush across the sky looking menacingly gray covering the land in a dark hue of despair. Then, the rain comes down, calm and cool, to wash away the hurt. This illustrates Kenneth Esrig's poetry. His new collection of poems, Washing Away the Pain (now available through 1stBooks), provides cathartic moments and seconds of comfort when clouds cover the reader's world.

Esrig weaves his words like a tapestry. Children and love are the foundation he has laid down, and he has built a sturdy volume of poems. He asks the readers to look within themselves and ask questions about their life. The personal nature of each poem lets the reader deal with the questions of loss and love, family and children that plague many people's minds. Topics range from waking in the middle of the night to the importance of family to savoring each moment in life.

Washing Away the Pain will bring the reader in touch with their innermost feelings. Esrig provides the reader with enough comfort and healing to cleanse any smudged soul.

Esrig was born in New York and moved with his family to Birmingham, Ala., early in his life. He has been in hospital and health administration for over 25 years. Esrig holds a bachelor's degree in healthcare management from the University of Alabama and a master's degree in hospital and health administration from the University of Alabama- Birmingham. Disaster struck in April 2002 with the sudden death of his wife. Left with raising his two young daughters by himself, his life took a downward spiral into depression and despair. Wanting to comfort his father-in-law's suffering, he wrote his first poem, "A Father's Day Wish." Washing Away the Pain is Esrig's first book. It was written in only ten days. He has completed seven more collections, two on the way in the next two years.
