Northrop Grumman Business Unit Earns ISO 9001:2000 Certification

ST. CHARLES, Mo., July 2, 2003 -- Cutting Edge Optronics, Inc. (CEO), a business unit of Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Space Technology sector, has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification, signifying that its quality management standards meet rigorous industry requirements.

"CEO has always been committed to providing the highest levels of service excellence," stated Doug Doty, CEO's quality manager. "We are proud to be certified to ISO 9001:2000. This demonstrates that our focus remains on quality, world-class performance, and continuously monitoring our business operations to ensure that we deliver on the promises we make to our customers, employees and vendors."

The ISO 9001:2000 standard, released in December 2000 as the successor to ISO 9000:1994, is an internationally recognized quality management system developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Certification was verified by British Standards Institute, Inc. (BSI), a quality management systems registrar for the ISO.

To be certified to the standard, companies must implement a quality management system (QMS) embracing the activities of the company. These include staff training, meeting customer expectations, designing and developing products, purchasing materials and services, and delivering products and services. This is done using Plan-Do-Check-Act principles and process management, demonstrating steps taken to provide customers the services pledged by CEO. Certification to ISO 9001:2000 reinforces to customers through an independent third-party, that CEO operates a QMS in accordance with the standard.

BSI is the world's leading quality management systems registrar. Founded in 1901, BSI has issued registration to more than 35,500 clients in over 90 countries. More than 112 'Global 500' companies have chosen BSI as their preferred ISO 9000, QS-9000, ISO 14000, TickIT, or EMAS registrar.
