Sane Poems from a Deranged Mind -- New Book of Poetry Presents Woman's Off-Beat and Satirical Style of Poems

NORWALK, Calif., July 16, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Love, joy, sadness, hope, loneliness, disaster, romance and destruction are a few qualities that intermingle to make up the tapestry of life. In poetry, they are the qualities that make up the new book, Sane Poems from a Deranged Mind (now available through1stBooks), by Nancy Susan Michael.

"If you haven't ever tripped the light fantastic, you quite possibly will do this with my book of poems. Go get yourself your favorite drink, then sit down by your fireside or other favorite spot and enjoy book! It is a whimsical, carefree book on poems, filled with human emotions, romance, children's poems and the happy geezer who is laden with Parkinson's disease," Michael says.

Michael -- who notes that she's not really deranged -- takes the reader on a journey through the written word. Her poems jump from theme to theme with an air of abandonment with each flipping page. One minute, she is exploring the ajar door, looking for excitement. Next, she is looking toward the mystery of God. With unique insights on life, Michael mulls over thoughts of death, romance and nuclear disaster.

"It is the type of book that can hold you suspended on one page, (and) draws you closer to a walk down lover's lane," Michael says. "Sane Poems from a Deranged Mind will make you happy, sad, wise or morally unable to do what is for me to know and you to find out."

Michael began writing poems as a means to relax while fighting a disabling illness. Her battle has placed her in a wheelchair as she suffers from severe Parkinson's disease. Originally from Chicago, she moved west with her husband, Alan, who has become her editor. Sane Poems from a Deranged Mind is her first book, but she has completed three more unpublished manuscripts.
