Veterans Park Conservancy Elects New Board Members

Former Litton Industries Executive, Hogan and Hartson Law Firm Partner and Retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Enhance Organization's Outreach and Expertise


LOS ANGELES, July 22, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Veterans Park Conservancy today announced the election of three new members to its board of directors.

Glen McDaniel served as a lieutenant commander with the Bureau of Aeronautics and was chairman of the Navy Board of Contract Appeals, subsequent to holding the post of civilian special counsel to Under-Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal during WW II.

McDaniel's career includes a long tenure at Litton Industries serving as vice president, general counsel -- as well as chairman of the executive committee for many years. His career includes serving as a director of Security Pacific National Bank and Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. He was president and later chairman of Saint John's Hospital and Health Center Foundation. McDaniel is a former director of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and a director and vice president of the Southern California Symphony-Hollywood Bowl Association. Among other tributes, McDaniel was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Pepperdine University.

Michele C. Coyle is a partner in the Los Angeles Office of Hogan and Hartson L.L.P., an international law firm with nineteen offices located throughout the world. Coyle is a member of the firm's Litigation, Labor and Environmental practice. She has extensive experience in environmental matters including open space, land trust and conservancy issues. Coyle served as Special Assistant U.S. Attorney and has worked with the Office of the Regional Counsel, United States Environmental Protection Agency in Seattle.

Stanford E. Brown is a retired Brigadier General in the United States Air Force. He currently serves as president of a community organization dedicated to programs designed to enhance the Riverside National Cemetery. Brown's military career includes serving as commander, field command, for the Defense Nuclear Agency at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. He served as a command pilot with 6000 flying hours, with numerous decorations and awards -- including the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit and Defense Meritorious Service Medal. His career also includes serving at the United States Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C. Brown was assigned to Strategic Air Command headquarters and served as base commander of March Air Force Base in California. He was a staff officer for NATO, and has had numerous administrative assignments in Japan, Germany and Vietnam. After his retirement from active duty, he has held advisory positions at Northrop Grumman.

Veterans Park Conservancy (VPC) is a non-profit community public/private partnership dedicated to the enhancement and preservation of four hundred acres of public land in West Los Angeles established to honor our nation's veterans.
