NBC-10 Broadcasts Live WJJZ Smooth Jazz Summer Nights Concert Series at Penn's Landing Friday Nights in August - 7 to 7:30 P.M.


PHILADELPHIA, July 29, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Penn's Landing Corporation is pleased to announce a new partnership with NBC-10 on the WJJZ Smooth Jazz Summer Nights concert series. As the official television partner, NBC-10 will air live broadcasts of segments of each of the five concerts, taking place every Friday in August. WJJZ Smooth Jazz Summer Nights takes place on the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing from 6:30 to 9 p.m. from Friday, August 1 through Friday, August 29.

NBC-10 anchor Amy Freeze will co-host the live broadcasts with WJJZ personality Michael Tozzi. The broadcasts will air on NBC-10 on Friday evenings in August from 7-7:30 p.m. and will feature the headliner's performance live from the Great Plaza on Penn's Landing.

The WJJZ Smooth Jazz Summer Nights concert series is celebrating six years of bringing local and national smooth jazz artists to the Philadelphia Waterfront. The series kicks off on Friday, August 1 with saxophone artist Euge Groove.

The series continues on Friday, August 8 with a performance from Philadelphia bass guitarist virtuoso Gerald Veasley. The evening will also feature an exciting performance by guitarist Monette Sudler.

On August 15, Philadelphia's own jazz great Doc Gibbs and Picante from the Emeril Live cooking show on the Food Network will perform following an exciting performance by Special EFX featuring Chieli Minucci.

The series continues on August 22 with Steve Cole, who has emerged as one of the best saxophone players and brightest smooth jazz stars in the country, followed with local jazz legends Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, led by the incomparable bassist Warren Oree.

On August 29, the series will culminate with the smooth sounds of Fortune Vinson Cruse and a show-stopping performance by premier saxophone artist and former Tower of Power member Richard Elliot.
