No Place to Fall -- New Book of Poems is Highly Emotional Collection Musing on Life, Love, Loss

MUFREESBORO, Tenn., July 31, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- From the moment a caveman smeared crushed berries on a rock wall in the shape of a wooly mammoth, he set his entire species apart from animals. None of the qualities that set humans apart from animals is as powerful as emotions and the ability to record and create them. The new book, No Place to Fall (now available through 1stBooks), by Tornado Day, is a collection of poetry that runs the gamut of emotions.

Day's poems interweave emotions and events together to create the tapestry of life. She dwells on life, muses the defining choices people must make and exposes the wonder, pain and ecstasy of love. Each poem, she says, is an intimate reflection of real life emotions, a flood of poignant words and thought-inspiring phrases that pour from the soul and Day's experiences. Her poems are easy to relate to and accessible to anyone, scholar or casual reader.

She revels in the embrace of her lover, sinks in a pit of her sorrow when he leaves and reflects on her inner self. In the following poem, "Expectations," Day calls out, with waning hope, for what she needs in life to carry on, not expecting the response. "I needed rain to cleanse my soul ... /I didn't expect the storm./ I needed a spark to life my heart ... /I didn't expect the flame. I needed to scream out all my fears ... / I didn't expect anyone to listen./ I needed to weep for the part of me that was lost ... /I didn't expect to be comforted."

Filled with emotions that spill over the brim, No Place to Fall is a deeply emotional collection of poetry, a response to life and a creation that sets humans apart from all other creatures.

In youth, Day enjoyed writing, but life's path led her away from that passion. Finally, at a crossroads in her life, she rekindled her poetic expression, writing No Place to Fall, her first book. For all hopeful poets in the world, she offers this advice:

"Never give up on your dreams, or place them on the 'back burner' thinking a better day will come along. They rarely do, and like everything else on that 'back burner,' your dreams can grow cold ..." she says.
