The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization created as a tribute to the life, character and immense strength of Sandy Rollman. Sandy passed away last year at the age of 33 from advanced ovarian cancer. Her nurse, Robin Cohen, and her sister, Adriana D'Alessandro, decided to keep Sandy's memory alive while helping to keep other women from having to endure the same pain. Sandy was a young, vibrant, exceptional woman whose focus in life was to help others. This is the focal point of the Foundation. Each year more than 25, 000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and more than 14,000 women die from the disease. The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation, Inc. is trying to change these statistics. It is in Sandy's memory and the memory of all women who have succumbed to this insidious disease, that the Foundation has dedicated its efforts to promote awareness of ovarian cancer, advocate for increased research for early diagnostic testing and more effective treatments, and help advance research towards a cure.
