Emulex PCI-X HBA Qualified With LSI Logic Storage Systems Controllers and Santricity Storage Manager Software

Expanded Qualification Offers LSI Logic Storage Systems and Its OEM Customers Robust Performance

COSTA MESA, Calif., Aug. 7, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the world's leading supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), today announced that its LightPulse 2Gb/s LP9802 PCI-X HBA has been qualified by LSI Logic Storage Systems for use with its storage subsystem controllers operating in Windows and Solaris environments.

This recent qualification expands the list of Emulex HBAs certified for use with LSI Logic's storage subsystem controllers, and ensures optimal enterprise-class performance and seamless scalability. The Emulex LP9802 PCI-X HBA successfully completed interoperability testing in the LSI Logic Storage Systems Certified Compatible program, which assures compatibility between storage subsystem controllers and the LP9802 within a variety of configurations, ensuring rapid and reliable deployment of storage area networks (SANs). LSI Logic's storage controllers utilized by other storage system suppliers such as IBM and StorageTek are also compatible with the Emulex LP9802 HBA.

Additionally, the Emulex LP9802 is qualified for use with LSI Logic Storage Systems' SANtricity(tm) Storage Manager, a new level of management, replication, and scalability software for its family of storage controller-based systems. SANtricity includes snapshot capability, which offers a high-speed replication tool for users whose data availability cannot be disrupted by routine management functions such as system backup and data copying.

"LSI Logic Storage Systems, which is a leader in networked storage interoperability, is pleased to certify the Emulex LP9802," said Julie Ryan, manager of alliances, LSI Logic Storage Systems. "This certification is an important step in our strategy to deliver compatible products to our mutual partners and their end customers."

Emulex's LP9802 PCI-X HBA provides support for 2Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates, delivering industry-leading performance and reliability. The Emulex LP9802 features automatic topology detection and automatic speed negotiation capabilities, which allow complete compatibility with existing 1Gb/s Fibre Channel SANs, and seamless upgrades to higher speed 2Gb/s SANs.

"LSI Logic Storage Systems demonstrates commitment and leadership through building scalable storage controllers, systems and management software," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of Worldwide Marketing for Emulex. "Extending Emulex's list of certified HBAs to include the LP9802 will offer LSI Logic Storage Systems value-added features and functionality to deliver products that are compatible with multiple vendor storage solutions."

The Emulex family of HBAs complement LSI Logic's storage systems, and provide customers with a robust connectivity solution, simplified upgrade path, reduced management complexities, while ensuring a lower total cost of ownership. The Emulex LP9802 is now qualified for use with the LSI Logic 2772, 2882, 4884 and 5884 controllers in both Windows and Solaris environments. The Emulex LP9802 is also fully compatible with drivers that support Emulex's centralized HBA management suite, HBAnyware, which incorporates driver-based technology to enable complete management of Emulex HBAs and the ability to upgrade firmware anywhere in a SAN from a single console.
