Emulex Port Driver Qualified by EMC for Use With EMC Networked Storage Systems

Emulex Port Driver Enables Intelligent Connectivity Solutions for EMC Symmetrix and CLARiiON Storage Systems in Windows Server 2003-based Environments

COSTA MESA, Calif., Aug. 7, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corp. (NYSE:ELX), the world's leading supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), announced today that its Port driver solution has been qualified by EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) for use with its Symmetrix(r) and CLARiiON(r) networked storage systems running Windows Server 2003. This qualification extends the use of Emulex's Port driver, which supplies advanced features and robust support for storage networking in Windows environments, and it also includes support for Emulex 2Gb/s PCI and PCI-X HBAs, including the LightPulse LP982, LP9002L, LP9802 and dual channel LP9802DC.

"In EMC's E-Labs, engineers replicate customer environments using the most comprehensive storage networking test facilities in the world," said Chuck Hollis, vice president of Markets and Products at EMC. "E-Lab Tested assures customers that Emulex HBAs and drivers, including the Port driver, are fully interoperable with EMC networked storage systems, enabling customers to deploy fully supported heterogeneous storage networks quickly, reliably and cost-effectively."

"EMC continues to deploy solutions possessing tremendous functionality and compatibility for the rapidly growing enterprise and mid-range storage market segments," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing of Emulex. "Emulex looks forward to continuing its work with EMC to raise the bar in terms of SAN features, performance and scalability."

The Emulex family of HBAs offers high performance, standards-based connectivity solutions for Fibre Channel storage networking environments. Emulex host bus adapters provide a unique combination of features required for mission-critical enterprise environments that deliver reliability, high bandwidth, server CPU offload, low latency and scalable connectivity. Emulex HBAs also have a unique driver architecture that enables compatibility of a single operating system driver across Emulex's entire product line. These features help to lower the customer's total cost of ownership and reduce management complexity, while enabling a seamless migration path to next generation technologies.
