QLogic Host Bus Adapters Qualified by EMC as E-Lab Tested in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environments

QLogic Miniport Driver Designed and Optimized to Enhance SAN Interoperability in Windows Server 2003 Operating System Environments

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., August 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), the company that powers storage area networks (SANs), today announced that EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) has qualified the QLogic 2Gb/sec SANblade(tm) Fibre Channel host bus adapter (HBA) with its miniport driver as E-Lab Tested(tm) for use with EMC's Symmetrix(r) and CLARiiON(r) networked storage systems supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with EMC PowerPath(tm) software.

"In EMC's E-Labs, engineers replicate customer environments using the most comprehensive storage networking test facilities in the world," said Chuck Hollis, vice president of Markets and Products at EMC. "E-Lab Tested assures customers that QLogic SANblade HBAs with miniport drivers are fully interoperable with EMC networked storage systems, enabling the reliable and cost-effective deployment of heterogeneous storage networks."

The E-Lab Tested qualification process is a series of exhaustive functionality and reliability tests to ensure the interoperability of all components that make up a multi-vendor information storage network. EMC has qualified the QLogic SANblade 2340 Series, a family of 133MHz PCI-X products that double storage throughput over standard PCI products and offer best-in-class SAN performance and functionality, as E-Lab Tested.

This flagship line offers an extensive checklist of features and benefits that is unmatched in the industry including performance of up to 80,000 Input/Output operations per second (IOPs) and more than 800 Mb of throughput. The SANblade 2340 Series features a unique "bridgeless" dual channel HBA, eliminating the severe performance degradation of PCI-X bridges used in competitive HBAs. Additionally, the SANblade 2340 Series offers native support for all major operating systems including Microsoft(r) Windows Server 2003, Windows NT(r), Windows 2000, Novell(r) NetWare, Red Hat(r) Linux(r) and SuSE Linux.

"QLogic HBAs enable customers to fully leverage Microsoft Server 2003-based SANs," said Frank Berry, vice president of marketing, QLogic Corporation. "The combination of QLogic's high-speed Fibre Channel connectivity with EMC's robust storage solutions and Microsoft's newest operating system is a hat trick for IT professionals. Offering native support for all major operating systems, QLogic HBAs offer best-in-class levels of speed and performance and interoperability."
