 WHAT:        Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide
              marketing for Emulex Corp. (NYSE:ELX) (www.emulex.com),
              will be speaking on "Management Strategies for iSCSI and
              Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks (SANs)," at HP World
              in Atlanta, on Aug. 15, 2003.  Smith will illustrate the
              key elements of SAN management, and provide guidance for
              creating a standards-based management infrastructure
              that allows customers to leverage existing investments
              and enables the seamless migration between Fibre Channel
              and iSCSI technologies.

              Emulex will also demonstrate industry leading storage
              networking solutions utilizing its newest generation
              LP10000 and LP9802 PCI-X HBAs -- showcasing driver
              support for HP's emerging HP-UX IIi v2 operating system,
              HBAnyware, and MultiPulse technologies.

 WHO:         During his tenure at Emulex, Smith has played a key role

              joining the company, Mr. Smith spent more than two years
              with Adaptec, Inc. as marketing manager of peripheral
              technologies solutions and most recently as marketing
              manager, Fibre Channel products.
