Nomadix Takes Leadership Role In Initiative To Resolve Billing Issues Across Different Wi-Fi Technologies

Company Joins IPDR's WLAN Accounting and Settlement Working Group to Standardize Infrastructure Supporting Single-Bill Access

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Aug. 19, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nomadix, Inc. (www.nomadix.com), a leading supplier of Public-access solutions, today announced they have joined the WLAN Accounting and Settlement Working Group to resolve key billing issues that are inhibiting the development of seamless, ubiquitous Wi-Fi (tm) roaming. The group, part of the IPDR Organization, will work to establish a single-bill access standard that functions across different technologies including CDMA, TDMA, GSM, dial-up and broadband.

"Our involvement in this new group reaffirms Nomadix' commitment to support and promote universal growth for Wi-Fi access," said Joel Short, CTO of Nomadix. "A single-bill access convergent solution that meets the needs of many industries is a critical component in advancing WLAN progress across the globe."

The primary benefits of a single-bill access are:

-- Enabling users to access a variety of hotspots while receiving one bill from their provider

-- Enabling hotspot operators to attract visitors from a host of other service providers

-- Enabling service providers to offer a new feature -- universal WLAN access -- to existing customers

The IPDR Organization is an open consortium of leading service providers, equipment vendors, system integrators, and billing and mediation vendors collaborating to facilitate the exchange of usage and control data between network and hosting elements and operations and business support systems by deployment of IPDR standards.
