BALTIMORE, Aug. 19, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Electronic Systems sector has announced the appointment of Richard F. Schmaley as vice president, Human Resources and Administration.

In this position, Mr. Schmaley will have executive responsibility for the sector's human resources policies, programs and practices. In addition, he will be responsible for all administrative services including security, capital resources and ethics. Most recently, he was director of operations for the sector's human resources organization.

Mr. Schmaley joined the company in 1981 as a human resources representative at the Pittsburgh facility. Over the years, he has held a number of human resources management positions with increasing responsibility at locations in Pennsylvania, Texas and Maryland.

Mr. Schmaley earned bachelor's and master's degrees in labor and industrial relations from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
