A Year in Hell, Otherwise Known as College; New Novel Follows Freshman Through Lovelorn Beer Soaked First Year of College

CINCINNATI, August 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- College is a time of growth, learning and expanding horizons, and, oh yeah, there may be books involved in there somewhere. A college freshman learns a few of life's lessons in the new novel, Hell Year (now available through 1stBooks), by Rick Suttle.

Suttle admits readers onto the Camden University campus, situated 40 miles north of Cincinnati in Plainfield, Ohio. It is an elite institution with an excellent business school and a heavy involvement level in Greek lifestyle, forcing anyone who desires to be a part of the student body outside of class to join a fraternity or sorority. Dave Watson is the average college freshman away from home for the first time. Lost amidst roommate conflicts, scholastic struggles, dating woes and beer soaked nights, he is hopelessly in love with a girl he is terrified to talk to.

In order to catch her eye, he joins a fraternity with his roommates, which embarks him on a series of rowdy alcohol fueled outings. He tangles with a biker gang and has a few scrapes with the law, then endures hell week at the frat house, all to win the love of a girl.

Inhabited by a cast of odd characters that only exist in the esteemed halls of academia's dorms, Hell Year is a humorous and honestly real portrayal of college.

Suttle grew up in Cincinnati, graduated from Oak Hills High School, before graduating from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He earned his Master of Business degree 19 years later. Spending most of his career in marketing research, he has lived in Columbus, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio, Lexington, Ky., Cincinnati, Dallas and Atlanta. His hobbies include bodybuilding and karate. Hell Year is his first book.
