Kineto Wireless Announces Executive Appointments To Support Growth; Industry Veterans Appointed to Key Positions within Mobile over WLAN Leader

MILPITAS, Calif., Sept. 8, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Kineto Wireless (www.kinetowireless.com) a key innovator and leading supplier of Mobile over Wireless LAN (MoWLAN) solutions, today announced the appointment of John O'Connell as president and CEO and John Perry as vice president of engineering. The executive management team expansion will further facilitate the company's leadership in bringing MoWLAN technology to market.

The use of mobile services within the home and office continues to increase. Recent studies indicate the average subscriber now uses their mobile phone for nearly 20% of their total home calling. These studies also indicate that indoor mobile usage will accelerate when mobile quality and pricing are more comparable to that of landline service. MoWLAN solutions enable the seamless delivery of high-quality mobile voice and data services over WLANs located within homes, offices and hot spots at significantly lower cost than existing 2.5 and 3G mobile network technologies. As a result, subscribers can now use their mobile phone as their main communications device, and fixed and mobile service providers can maximize their revenue potential and profitability from their subscriber's use of the mobile phone as the only phone.

As CEO, O'Connell's responsibilities include overseeing the company's strategic direction with a focus on the growth of relationships with carriers and partners. With over 20 years in the telecommunications industry, O'Connell brings a solid record of success. Most recently he served as CEO of VYYO, Inc., a global supplier of broadband fixed wireless systems. Prior to his position at VYYO, O'Connell spent 10 years with Nortel Networks, serving as the general manager of Nortel's GSM and UMTS Solutions business, where he was instrumental in the company's entrance into the GSM Market.

"John's leadership, vision and experience makes him uniquely suited for his role as CEO of Kineto," said Jahangir Mohammed, executive vice president and board member for Kineto Wireless. "His proven track record in successfully building companies in the telecommunications arena makes him the obvious choice to establish Kineto as the leader in the Mobile over Wireless LAN space. With this appointment, Kineto continues to deliver on our commitment to the growth of our executive team and overall company."

With more than 25 years of engineering leadership experience to his credit, John Perry is responsible for technology planning and development, and will play a major role in the evolution of Kineto's solution for MoWLAN. Prior to joining Kineto, Perry served as chief technical officer and vice president of engineering for Netro Corporation, where he helped lead the company through its successful IPO. Prior to Netro, he served as vice president of research and development at Ericsson-Raynet as well as vice president of research and development at Bell Northern Research.

"John brings a deep understanding and a strong track record in the wireless industry, and will ensure we deliver best of breed technology to our carrier customers worldwide," said John O'Connell. "With the addition of John, Kineto is well positioned to continue its role as innovator and technology leader in the Mobile over Wireless LAN market."

John O'Connell and John Perry join Kineto's management team comprised of Jahangir Mohammad, executive vice president; Mark Powell, vice president of business development; Ken Kolderup, vice president of marketing; and Mike Gallagher, chief system architect.
