Northrop Grumman Names Former Air Force Lt. Gen. Robert Hinson to Lead C2I Division Operations in Omaha

Hinson Returns to Region to Focus on USSTRATCOM, Air Force Air Weather Service


OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 9, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Former U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Robert (Bob) C. Hinson has joined Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Mission Systems sector as vice president and deputy general manager for the Command, Control and Intelligence (C2I) division.

In this new position, Hinson will have responsibility for the division's USSTRATCOM and Air Force Air Weather Service customers.

He will also have overall operating responsibilities for the C2I division's business in the greater Omaha area, providing strategic direction and coordination to key customers. Hinson is a former vice commander of the Air Force Space Command and deputy commander-in-chief of U.S. Strategic Command in Omaha. He will be based at the division's headquarters located near Offutt Air Force Base.

"As senior executive for Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems' business in Omaha, Bob will be instrumental in strengthening our company's offerings to USSTRATCOM in the mission areas of global strike, information operations, C4ISR, missile defense and space operations," said Donald C. Northrop Grumman's presence in Omaha spans 30 years where it has provided support to the Strategic Air Command and USSTRATCOM. This original on-site Offutt Air Force Base enterprise began with the Missile Applications Program, a software development and sustainment program in support of land-based Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles and Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile war planning.

Northrop Grumman employs more than 1,000 people in the Omaha region, where it has grown substantially in the past five years by providing its customers exceptional mission expertise and program performance.

Hinson retired from the Air Force in August after 33 years of service. Most recently, Hinson served as vice commander, Air Force Space command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colo., where he assisted the commander in the development, acquisition and operation of the Air Force's space and missile systems. Other key assignments include serving as deputy commander-in-chief, USSTRATCOM at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Neb.; commander, 14th Air Force at Vandenberg Air Force Base; commander, 45th Space Wing, Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.; and chief of the Strategic Nuclear Policy Branch on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon. Hinson is a command pilot with more than 3,000 flying hours, primarily in bomber aircraft.

Hinson has a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Tennessee and a master's degree in humanities and education from Arkansas State University. Hinson is a graduate of the Program for Senior Officials in National Security, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
