Open Mobile Alliance Appoints CDMA Development Group to Board of Directors

CDG Further Assists the Development of Interoperable Services


COSTA MESA, Calif., Sept. 16, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) announced today that it has been appointed to the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Board of Directors. As a member of the board, the CDG will provide strategic input on OMA initiatives that will enable the timely and efficient introduction of services and applications to wireless users.

"The CDG has been an active member of OMA since the organization was established and has contributed to a number of key initiatives, such as MMS Interoperability, Device Management, Location Based Services as well as Market Communication and M-commerce," said Perry LaForge, executive director, CDG. "As an official board member, the CDG will be in a position to better assist the OMA in its efforts to bring interoperable services to the global marketplace."

The CDG will work in unison with the OMA to deliver open standards for the mobile industry, helping to create interoperable services that work across countries, carriers and mobile terminals and are driven by users' needs.

The CDMA Development Group is a trade association formed to foster the worldwide development, implementation and use of CDMA technologies. The 110 member companies of the CDG include many of the world's largest wireless carriers and equipment manufacturers. The primary activities of the CDG include development of CDMA features and services, public relations, education and seminars, regulatory affairs and international support. Currently, there are more than 500 individuals working within various CDG subcommittees on CDMA-related matters.
