KNNX Urban Apparel Successfully Debuts New Line of Urban Clothing at The 2003 Black Business Expo and Trade Show


LOS ANGELES, Sept. 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Los Angeles based KNNX Urban Apparel (KNNX) successfully debuted its new line of Urban/Streetwear apparel during the Los Angeles Black Business Expo and Trade Show (LABBETS). The expo ran during the weekend of Sept. 12th -- 14th. KNNX (pronounced "Connects") introduced its 2003 family of accessories and the reaction across the board was exceptional. "The line was extremely well received at this year's expo and our team is still buzzing from the overwhelming consumer reaction," said CEO/Founder Marvin Williams.

This year's LABETTS placed an increased amount of focus on Urban/Hip-Hop wear. From fashion shows to musical events, this year's expo packed quite a punch and the event drew tens of thousands. "We had to come up with an agenda that would help us face up to larger brands which had an increased expo presence while also planning for our initial debut. When combined, the two goals made strategically planning for the entire event a bit complex," said Williams. KNNX did achieve the initial goal of increased awareness at the expo. The KNNX street team modeled the line and they were also the facilitators of KNNX's direct marketing agenda. In a short period of time, expo patrons were visiting the booth with flyers in hand, a lot of questions, and cash.

On day one (Fri 9/12) KNNX received a healthy amount of consumer purchases and the reaction ranging from teens to adults was extremely positive. "By Saturday evening we were in the black in terms of gross revenue against the cost to exhibit. We originally did not base the success of the event on profitability, we were looking to mainly increase awareness," said Williams. By day three (Sun 9/14) KNNX felt at home.

The highlight of the show for KNNX was on Sunday. KNNX aligned itself with one of the largest radio stations in Los Angeles. KNNX took part in two contests with the second contest resulting in a remarkable crowd presence. So remarkable in fact that the expo staff had to disburse the crowd because of the overwhelming turnout. "We loved the crowds reaction and we came out on top. You never know what can happen to your brand after hundreds of people focus on it. To our gratification the crowd had one anthem 'More, more, more KNNX'," said Williams. By end of day Sunday, the KNNX line was receiving even greater traffic and ended with a great debut. "Besides consumer purchases, we also received interest from buyers for retail distribution. The relationships that we created at the expo coupled with the follow-up we received last week have been nothing less than marvelous," said Williams.
