McClintock Uses MessageCast and Microsoft Alerts to Get the Message Out in California Recall Election

VENTURA, Calif., Sept. 29, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Senator Tom McClintock is kicking his campaign into a technologically higher gear today by adding Instant Messaging alerts to his E-Team initiative.

Using the Microsoft(r) Alerts service (Nasdaq:MSFT) via an easy-to-use web-based application offered by MessageCast, Inc., McClintock for Governor organizers can now share important up-to-the-minute information with voters. Voters can receive this information instantaneously via a range of popular electronic devices such as computer desktops via MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger, cell phones, and wireless PDA's.

"Instant Messaging is the standard way most 30-and-under voters communicate," said Senator Tom McClintock. "Using this kind of cutting-edge communication is indicative of the technology savvy I'll bring to the Governor's office."

Alerts are an innovative service from Microsoft that, according to the company, can be up to 10 times more effective than direct mail. Each voter must sign up to receive alerts, ensuring they will not receive unwanted messages or spam. Today there are over 100 million active users on the Microsoft Instant Messaging network1.

Key to the program's success was getting the Microsoft Alerts service live as quickly as possible using the MessageCast web-based solution. With MessageCaster(tm), there is no complex integration or programming required, enabling campaign organizers to communicate with voters almost overnight.
