Different Views of a Common Belief -- New book outlines various schools of thought on second coming of Christ

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., Sept. 30, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Author Rev. Feniton Jacquet bases his new book, The Reality of the Second Coming of Christ (now available through 1stBooks), on the idea that Jesus Christ will be returning to earth. He takes that belief further, outlining the various schools of thought within the Christian evangelical movement. Jacquet details each viewpoint, allowing readers to learn the full scope of opinions on Jesus' second visit to Earth.

Jacquet takes an in-depth look at each of the main views of Christ's second coming: premillennialism, postmillennialism and amillennialism. Premillennialism holds that the second coming of Christ will inaugurate a "millennial kingdom." The return of Christ is scheduled before the millennium opens. Postmillennialism claims that the millennium does not lie in the future, but has already begun. It is the belief that the second coming will conclude the millennium. Amillennialism suggests that there will be no earthly kingdom at all. These theories are closely scrutinized, with the backing of more than 10 years of research. Jacquet dissects each view intensely, showing that even though Christians agree that Christ will return, they disagree on how his return will play out. Jacquet also uses ample references to biblical verse and other scholarly works.

He delves into the various views of the Rapture, including the physical and visual aspects that are discussed in the Bible, and he evaluates the spiritual impact of Jesus's return. The book also touches on the modern political and social events that correlate with various aspects of Christ's return, such as the recent interpretation of the Great Tribulation.

Minister, Bible teacher, evangelist and radio personality, Jacquet has completed ministerial work in Costa Rica, Paris, Canada and the United States. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's in theology. He broadcasted French news for Florida evangelical radio news programs and currently directs the radio program at his church. A police chaplain for the Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff's Department, Jacquet pastors for the Christian New Vision Baptist Church of Florida and resides in Hollywood, Fla.
