It Just Takes Maximum Effort - New book presents a layman's guide to managing the attorney-client relationship

BELLEVUE, Wash., Oct. 1, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Looking for a practical guide to the practice of law? Authors John Peick and David Matteson have a new book for those in search of answers. Entitled Maximum Effort (now available through 1stBooks), the book is a realistic, layman's guide targeted towards those wishing to maximize results in situations requiring an attorney.

Providing "nuts and bolts direction," Peick and Matteson cover the key aspects of an attorney-client association including preparation prior to meeting, a knowledge of where attorneys often fail their clients, information on how to select the best attorney, advice on ensuring good quality communications, tips for fees and costs control, and insights into the American justice system.

After watching numerous individuals fail to maximize the potential of an opportunity or fully succeed in resolving a problem, Peick and Matteson collaborated to write Maximum Effort. The authors cited two common reasons for client failure: one, they discovered clients do not often know how to manage themselves or take responsibility for their own situation, and two, clients frequently surrender more responsibility and control than is necessary or wise.

An enlightening read, Maximum Effort exposes the truth about how the law operates and makes money, providing the reader with much better odds of success, the authors note.

Both authors live in the state of Washington. Matteson has two bachelor's degrees in environmental biology and civil engineering and three master's degrees in public health, public policy and education. He is a certified mediator and is accredited in public relations.

Peick currently practices personal injury healthcare and business law and is a principal in the firm, Peick & Associates. He has a bachelor's degree in political science and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, American Health Lawyers Association, Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association and National Association of Chiropractic Attorneys.
