Nietzsche is not Dead - New Book of Poetry Continues German Philosopher's Work

PACOIMA, Calif., Oct. 1, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Friedrich Nietzsche is infamous for his statement, "God is dead." Although his nihilist diatribes on religion and morality were decades ahead of their time, Nietzsche has left behind a legacy of philosophical thought. Frederick Martin-Del-Campo continues this legacy with his new book, On the Hill of Contemplation (now available through 1stBooks).

"Friedrich Nietzsche is dead ... but his ghost lurks in the shadows, trapped in the cave of illusions, crying in the wilds of an uncertain hereafter, demanding to reveal the word of Zarathustra again ... possessing me, as his messenger, to reveal a choice to man ... if mankind is to survive in the 21st century," Martin-Del-Campo says.

In the spirit of Nietzsche, Martin-Del-Campo writes a plethora of verse, focused on issues of morality and addressing such topics as lust and truth. In writing On the Hill of Contemplation, Martin-Del-Campo set out to "seek ...'a path to peace and happiness.'" Using his studies in the field of comparative religion, he struggles with life's stern realities by applying the principles of a civil society to individuals.

The result is On the Hill of Contemplation, an anthology of "verse meditations" designed to contemplate the difficult world. Martin-Del-Campo examines the nature of society in today's world and ponders the basic nature of humans.

"Burning in the lifeblood of savagery to find a place in society, but always longing for the freedom of nature's apathy, I go trekking in the wilds of reckless adventure to hear the wisdom of the ages, and so Zarathustra Spake oncemore," Martin-Del-Campo says.

Speak Zarathustra can in On the Hill of Contemplation.

A native of California, Martin-Del-Campo currently is working on another anthology for publication in 2004. On the Hill of Contemplation is his first book.
