Skanska lands contracts in Oslo for SEK 310M


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Skanska's (Pink Sheets:SKSBF) (LSE:SKAbq) Norwegian subsidiary has received three contracts at a total value of SEK 310 M (NOK 285 M). The contracts cover construction projects in the Oslo area for the Norwegian Security Service, the National Library and a care facility. The contracts are included in order bookings for the third quarter of 2003.

A new office, with 14,200 square meters of floor space, is being constructed for the Norwegian Security Service. The contract is valued at NOK 141 M, excluding VAT. The customer is the Norwegian real-estate company Avantor. The project is starting immediately, with scheduled completion in 2005.

The National Library will be renovated. The contract amount is NOK 51.5 M. The customer is the Entra Eiendom AS real-estate company. The assignment involves rebuilding and renovation of the entire National Library as well as an extension. Parts of the Library are landmark- protected as a cultural heritage and, accordingly, will be dismantled and reused. Skanska is currently carrying out civil engineering work for the National Library. The new project will begin immediately, with completion in 2004.

The third project involves renovation and extension of the Cathinka Guldberg Senteret care facility. The assignment covers rebuild of the patient wards from two-patient rooms to private rooms. The project covers rebuild of about 7,000 square meters and new production of 2,600 square meters. Work begins in October and will be completed in October next year. The contract is valued at NOK 93 M. The customer is the Diakonissehuset Loisenberg Foundation.

Earlier this year, Skanska was contracted to finance, design, build and operate Norway's first public-private highway project. The construction portion of this contract is valued at more than SEK 1.6 billion.

The Norwegian subsidiary Selmer Skanska AS will change name during the autumn to Skanska Norge AS (Skanska Norway), which is in accordance with Skanska's name policy for a common global brand.
